It is with great pride that I welcome you to the B.P. Koirala Lions Center for Ophthalmic Studies , which is part of Institute of Medicine , Tribhuvan University.  Since our inception in 1996 our center has been dedicated to advancing ophthalmic education, research, and clinical services in Nepal.

A key milestone in our journey was the initiation of the MD Ophthalmology program in 1987 & bachelor in optometry in 1998 which has been instrumental in developing highly skilled ophthalmologists & optometrists committed to serving the nation. Our integrated approach combines clinical excellence, innovative research, and community outreach to combat preventable blindness and improve eye health across Nepal.

Besides human resource production for the country our center offers a wide range of services, including surgical interventions, medical treatments, and eye health awareness programs. We focus on major eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, corneal ulceration, keratoconus, trauma and childhood blindness. Through outreach and screening initiatives, we strive to reach underserved populations and promote early detection and treatment.

Research remains at the core of our mission. We try to conduct research which will address new public health strategies to address regional needs. Our dedicated team of faculty, healthcare professionals, and students work tirelessly for better patient outcomes.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to our vision of a Nepal free from avoidable blindness. We invite collaboration and support from all sectors to expand our impact. Together, we can build a future where quality eye care is accessible to everyone, and the gift of sight is preserved and restored.

Thank you for your continued support.
